John T. Riley



John T. Riley has over twenty-five years experience teaching students with special needs (k-12), elementary general education, IDEA district child find coordinator, IEP Team facilitator and a regional leader for an RTI program. He served on the Professional Standards and Teacher Education Board in Maryland and holds a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities. John’s advocacy for students in the schoolhouse was culminated by working in the state house for Maryland Governor Parris N. Glendening as his Education Policy Advisor.

 

Driven by his passion and advocacy for human, civil and economic rights John joined the Government Relations department of the National Education Association (NEA) in 2009. He is currently a policy analyst in the NEA Education Policy and Practice division. John Riley believes policy makers should seek to maximize the achievement, skills, opportunities, and potential of all students by promoting their strengths and addressing their needs.
